Welcome to the Royal Canadian Riding Academy, we are pleased to have over ten years of history at this great equestrian facilit
The RCRA started out as a modest facility with only one indoor arena. We have over 250 stalls, 3 Olympic sized outdoor rings, full outdoor Dressage ring and a total of 3 indoor arenas for multi—discipline riding. The academy is located in what’s known as the “Golden Horseshoe” with easy access from the 404, just past Kennedy on Davis Drive, north of Toronto.
Being a premier all-season facility in Canada, we have hosted several prestigious events over the years. In 1985, the facility hosted the North American Young Riders Championships (also known as the NAJYRC) in Dressage, Show Jumping and 3 Day Eventing. We also hosted the popular 1986 World Dressage Championships, evidently this was the only time this competition has been held outside of Europe. During the same year, this facility also hosted the World Cup Jumper competition and Olympic Qualifiers.
In addition we also host several truly unique Trillium Shows year round, Bronze, Silver and Gold Dressage Shows and in-house schooling shows. The RCRA is proud to still host various levels of quality horse shows in multiple disciplines and remain a strong presence in the equestrian community.
The RCRA was a main contender in the City of Toronto bidding to host the 1996 and 2008 Olympics. Recently, RCRA has been hosting western events. For the last few years, the RAM Rodeo Tour Ontario Championships have been held at RCRA. We had as many as 2500 spectators per day enjoying the thrill of an intense yet fantastic rodeo event.
The academy is a place for beginners to expert riders providing coaching for all ages and all levels. Apart from training we also hold educational clinics, seminars and workshops taught by certified professionals. We are both proud and honored to have riders who have become international legends in the past, and hope to cultivate each and every riders experience in the present with dignity and skill for the future to come.
